Our River Basin Map Travels with National Climate Festival
We're excited to share that our River Basins of South Asia map was recently featured at the "Festivals of Life: Where the Rivers, Forests and Mountains Are!" - a national youth-led climate festival held at Assam Don Bosco University in Sonapur, Assam, from February 5-6, 2026.
Organized by Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Department of English at Assam Don Bosco University and WWF India, this unique educational initiative celebrates India's diverse ecosystems through immersive learning, art, culture, and community engagement. The festival is open to schools, colleges, and organizations, and has already reached over 80,000 students, educators, and citizens across the country.

Our River Basins of South Asia map has been an integral part of this journey since the very beginning, as it was first displayed in 2022 at Azim Premji University during the inaugural "Rivers of Life" exhibition.

At the heart of the festival are 300 young interns who have traveled through diverse ecosystems, documenting their observations through photo essays and creative public art installations. The Assam edition featured over 300 large exhibition panels with maps, photographs, and insights, alongside interactive sessions, guided nature walks, expert talks, and film screenings that bring together science, culture, and creativity.
The festival will continue its journey across Northeast India this year, with upcoming stops planned for Shillong, Agartala in Tripura, Jorhat and Dibrugarh in Assam, Gangtok in Sikkim, and Calcutta. We're proud that our map continues to help spark awareness and curiosity about the pressing matter of climate change and the importance of freshwater.
