Punjjorda, the local café and pub is the cultural hub of the wider area, many people come to the village just to eat here or enjoy a concert with friends. The food served is also locally sourced, with most of it coming from sustainable farms or bought from independent fishermen. The owners put a lot of effort into growing their own vegetables and all kinds of leafy greens, so their salads are always the freshest you could possibly get. They are also working on expanding their vegetable garden: they have bought a small, long-abandoned farm just outside the village, where the conditions are perfect for permaculture gardening.
While they were showing us around the property, we started talking about regenerative methods and sustainable farming, which are topics where river basins play a key role. That's when they asked if Robert could make them a map to display in the café. Now, the river basins of Nordland County are on display at the centre of attention, alongside the forest cover map of the Arctic by the front door.
We have been planning to introduce more options besides fine art prints in our Map Shop, so we have decided to order both maps from our printing partner. We also ordered samples of other images so that we could compare the colours and printing quality of different sizes on different materials. We were really happy with the test prints, especially the paper prints and the one that came with a hanger. Hopefully, we can move forward in this direction before the end of the year.
