Plasticized Oceans and Seas exhibition in Paris

Our maps are on display at the Pavillion de l'eau in Paris. The exhibition is called Plasticized Oceans and Seas by Expédition MED

"Océans et mers plastifiés" is a travelling exhibition, always present at two different locations at a time. The other one is open until 8 January 2023 at the ZOOM de Laval cultural centre. You can also catch our maps there.

The maps are printed on a 3m wide black canvas, with a small introduction of Robert Szucs, founder of Grasshopper Geography.
The exhibitions have already travelled to a dozen locations and welcomed 100,000 visitors altogether. They are successfully creating awareness of the urgency to act against the overuse of plastic.

Through the exhibitions we discover the origin of plastic, its arrival in the terrestrial and marine ecosystem and its environmental, health and economic impact to end up with sustainable solutions and alternatives to deal with this pollution.
This exhibition is, in part, born from a characterization and a report on the waste collected on 14 beaches on the Atlantic coast from March to May 2016. 144,997 pieces of waste were sorted, identified and categorized. Of this total, 96% of the waste was made up of plastic. This made it possible to update the figures commonly used and to obtain new data on the sources and origins of the waste present on the beaches. (from the Expédition MED website)

There is also an online version of the exhibition for those who are interested.
